I’m passionate about creating evidence-based resources that support consumers and health professionals to make lasting changes that improve health outcomes. I have more than 15 years of experience as a health communications specialist, developing health promotions campaigns and resources that:

  • empower consumers to manage their conditions more effectively

  • incorporate behaviour change principles to motivate lasting change

  • improve health literacy and patient activation

  • provide health professionals with practical, up-to-date information to support clinical best practice

I have worked in-house for Medibank (2016 to present), NPS MedicineWise (2014 to 2016) and AHM Total Health (2005 to 2010), and freelanced for a wide range of leading newspapers, magazines, websites and brands in the health and science space (2001 to 2014). From 2012 to 2014 I wrote weekly columns for in Medical Observer, highlighting the most relevant new research in mental health and diabetes for an audience of general practitioners. My features for the Weekend Australian health section were recognised with several industry awards, including winner and runner up of the Luminous award, winner of the Royal Australasian College of Ophthalmologists Media Award, and winner of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation media Award.

I am currently on the executive committee of the Australasian Medical Writers Association, the peak professional body for medical writers in Australia and New Zealand, and I’ve been appointed as a consumer representative for the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists.
